Already known for its incredible mountain biking in the spring, summer, and fall, Park City boasts some of the best fat tire biking in the winter. There are many free and open trails for you to enjoy biking during the winter with options for renting a bike if you don’t already have one. Gear up with some water-resistant shoes, gloves, and wind-resistant pants and jacket then hit the great trails around the Park City area!

There is a wide variety of trails and scenic views to enjoy in the area and many of the local bike shops and outfitters offer fat tire bike rentals during your stay. If you’re a beginner, just focus on a loop or slow ride through the trail system while more experienced riders may enjoy something more difficult and fast-paced. Whatever your skill level, here are a few area trails that are sure to be a hit!

Historic Rail Trail: This historic 26-mile trail offers six miles of groomed terrain during the winter months that connects the Round Valley trail system with the heart of Park City. You can start from the White Pine Touring Center and enjoy a leisurely cruise or pick up the pace for a workout!
Round Valley: This network of designated bike and snowshoe trails is available from Quinn’s Junction trailhead. There are 25 kilometers of free and public use trails, just make sure to watch out for snowshoers and cross-country skiers and avoid the classic skiing tracks along the side of many of the trails.
Glenwild: Storm Cycles, a local bike shop, started grooming this 10.5-mile loop specifically for fat tire bikes in 2016. You can start from the Spring Creek trailhead and enjoy an exciting ride around the loop made for bikers!
McLeod & Willow Creek: Also fun mountain biking trails in the summer, the fun continues into the winter. There are 12 kilometers of trails accessed at Willow Creek Park. Go out as far as you would like then make your way back through Swaner Nature Preserve or the Historic McPolin Farm.
