How and where to go zip lining in Park City

The two most important ingredients for a zip line are altitude and a sturdy cable. Park City has plenty of the former, making it the perfect place to go zip lining. With three full zip line parks in town and another just down the mountain at Deer Creek Reservoir, there are more than a dozen lines to choose from. Whether you are looking for your nearest high-flying adventure or seeking the longest zip line in the world, try one of following zip line experiences.

Utah Olympic Park

On top of all the ski jumps, the bobsled course, and the museums, Utah Olympic Park offers four different zip line experiences. They range from relatively manageable 35-mph rides to a quick zip that terminates in a 65-foot free fall! You can choose the experience that best suits your comfort level or try them all, one after another.

The newest addition to the Utah Olympic Park zip line repertoire is the zip tour. The course criss-crosses some of the most scenic areas of the park, covering more than a mile of ground between stations. Lines soar 161 feet above the canyon floor and reach top speeds of approximately 40 miles per hour.

Canyons Village

Offering two spans, this zip line experience gives you the option of a shorter, 750-ft experience at a 9% grade reaching 35 mph or a more exhilarating 1950-ft zip tour with an 11% grade that achieves speeds of up to 50 mph. Guests who might not be ready to take the plunge can wait for you at the top and enjoy a bite to eat at Lookout Restaurant while more adventurous souls glide 2000 feet out toward Red Pine Condominiums.

Park City Mountain

The resort’s flagship ride, the ZipRider is a four-wire zip line with an aggressive grade and a thrilling top speed. Reaching 55 miles per hour, this 23% grade extends half a mile and drops a steep 550 feet from top to bottom. The alpine coaster is built right beneath the zip line’s run, so you can look down on fellow speed demons as you zoom along. Unlike many zip lines, the Flying Eagle is a seated ride-making it easy to enjoy your trip.

Zipline Utah

This enormous zip line park isn’t located in Park City itself. Instead, it is about 10 minutes outside the community of Heber-just down the mountain from Park City. The sprawling collection of sturdy platforms and high-tensile wires covers 10 different zip lines joined by seven suspended aerial bridges. Taken together, they represent more than two miles of zip line fun that constitute the longest course in the world. It is well worth the drive from Park City.
